What is included in the tour?
All of our tours include everything you need for a fantastic snorkeling experience—wetsuits for night manta ray tours, and all necessary snorkeling equipment for every outing. We also provide light snacks to keep you refreshed, but we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle, reef-safe sunscreen, towel, sunglasses, hat, and any additional snacks you’d like for the trip.
Do I need prior snorkeling experience?
No prior snorkeling experience is necessary for our tours, though it can be helpful. For the night manta ray snorkel, you’ll be holding onto a large board and floating, making it easy for anyone to participate—no experience required! At any point during the tour, you’re welcome to get back on the boat if you feel uncomfortable or need a break. For our offshore adventures, we recommend having some snorkeling experience, as you’ll be swimming with sharks and other larger marine animals in deeper waters. However, if you’d prefer not to snorkel, you can always stay on the boat and enjoy viewing the animals from the vessel.
What marine life can we expect to see?
Wildlife sightings are always unpredictable, and while we cannot guarantee any specific animal encounters, we strive to provide an unforgettable experience. On our night manta ray snorkel, manta rays are typically always seen, as they are drawn to the area to feed. For our offshore adventures, we have the possibility of spotting a variety of whale, dolphin, and shark species. Oceanic white-tip sharks and pilot whales are frequently seen, and spinner dolphins are often spotted as well. On rare occasions, we may encounter more elusive species, such as whale sharks or sperm whales. Every day offers a different experience, so you never know what marine life you might encounter! For our coral reef snorkel, it’s common to see schools of fish, manta rays, and occasionally a Hawaiian green sea turtle or monk seal.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 72 hours before your scheduled departure. If your tour is canceled due to weather conditions or other safety concerns, we will provide a full refund as well. Please note that no-shows or cancellations made within 72 hours of departure are non-refundable.
How do I get to the meeting point?
Please meet us at Honokohau Harbor at least 10 minutes prior to departure to ensure a smooth check-in process. The harbor is located at 74-380 Kealakehe Pkwy, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740. To get there, enter Kealakehe Pkwy from Queen Ka’ahumanu Hwy, take your first right, and go past the Sea Store Deli. Then, take a left and look for our boat, the “Bella Rain”, on a trailer parked near the restrooms.
For parking, please park near the restrooms, which are located between the two boat ramps. We will meet you at the pavilion with the brown roof, which is right next to the restrooms. Be sure to arrive on time, as we aim to depart promptly!
How long does it take to receive free footage?
As a thank you for booking one of our snorkeling tours—Night Manta Ray Snorkel, Coral Reef Snorkel, or Offshore Adventure—you will receive free footage from your tour. On the Offshore Adventure and Coral Reef Snorkel, Monet will capture stunning photos of you and the marine life we encounter using her professional camera. On the Night Manta Ray Snorkel, you’ll receive GoPro videos showcasing the mantas barrel rolling and twirling in the illuminated waters. A link to your photos and videos will be sent within 72 hours of your tour, with around 5 videos or 10 photos depending on the tour.
